Professor Heimann is a Professor of Modern History, with particular expertise in Czechoslovakia, English Catholicism and Communist-Catholic relations during the Cold War. She founded and currently directs Cardiff's ⁠Central and East European Research Centre⁠ and ⁠Czechoslovak Special Collection⁠.
