"It's all about the process," say Kim Wiltshire and Billy Cowan, when discussing political theatre. And you're unlikely to hear of the movement's protagonists going on to huge fame via London's West End. But that was - is - not the point. This was all about identifying contemporary political issues, and taking them to the public - the streets, workplaces, factories. You didn't need to have acted, written, produced, or directed before, you just needed a passionate belief in your cause. This was punk theatre.
As they launch their book, Scenes from the Revolution: Making Political Theatre 1968-2018, Kim and Billy discuss the history, legacy and continuing relevance of political theatre in the 21st century.
