A bonus podcast for this week! During the Montreal FRINGE Festival, we also recorded an interview with Adam Stotland, a musician, cantor, and now turned musical theatre performer. He’s taking to the stage for the first time in Soul Doctor: Journey of a Rock Star Rabbi at the Segal Centre in Montreal. It’s a musical entirely in Yiddish, a tradition the Segal Centre has carried on since it was the Saidye Bronfman Centre.
Soul Doctor is an uplifting new musical about the life and music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach and his friendship with the high-priestess of soul, Nina Simone.
