The event will be held on September 20-21, 2017, at the Highgate House in Northampton, U.K, and bring together experts in the field of vertical transportation, offering an opportunity for speakers to present peer-reviewed papers. Speakers will include industry experts, academics and postgraduate students. For more information or to submit an abstract, visit liftsymposium.org. ANOTHER LUXURY-CAR-THEMED TOWER IN MIAMI? Another luxury-car-themed tower could join the Porsche Design Tower in Miami in the form of the 66-story, 390-unit Aston Martin Residences at 300 Biscayne Boulevard Way, British automaker Aston Martin announced. G and G Business Developments is behind the project, designed by Revuelta Architecture and Bodas Mian Anger with a "bold, sail-shaped" profile. Interiors will be designed by Aston Martin and feature two private lobbies, a fitness center, a spa and an infinity pool. Groundbreaking on what Aston Martin describes as its first real-estate project is anticipated in summer 2017. Car elevators, a feature of the Porsche tower, were not mentioned as part of this project. IN MEMORIAM: DAVID COLEMAN BICKNELL David Coleman Bicknell, an Otis employee for more than 40 years and a Massachusetts state elevator inspector, passed away on October 21 at the age of 89. A World War II veteran and lifelong resident of Stoneham, Massachusetts, Bicknell is survived by loved ones, who include his wife of 64 years, Jean, and sister, Joanna Howes. He was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 4. A service was held on October 25, followed by military honors. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Stoneham, 457 Main Street, Stoneham, Massachusetts 02180.
