Sue is joined by spiritual midwife, Mandy Preece, who initiated a volunteer bedside companion scheme at an NHS palliative care unit in 2013. She now helps hospices set up similar schemes to offer support for people during their final moments. Mandy was awarded the Princess Royal Training Award for her work and also won the NHS Unsung Hero Volunteer of the Year in 2019. She is the author of Being Rock, on how to listen and be present at the bedside of the dying.
