Hello there from a variety of realities!
Augmented Reality (AR) has really been the talk of the town lately especially with Augmented World Expo (AWE) just happening and the Apple WDC announcement happening today.
To really dive in, we brought back on Immersive Technology professional and UX Designer, Eric Azares.
It's truly a great time to be involved in this rapidly developing space after a several year slump and cooling off of the Virtual Reality (VR) market.
Now there are a myriad of incredible tools, people and organizations building not only new realities but the tech that provides them.
This is a topic we could go on and on about so hope you enjoy this episode.
After listening to this episode you will learn:

  • Why continuous learning is key and how to keep up with the flow of new information
  • How making sci-fi a reality is what gets him up everyday
  • The pros and cons of DIY/self-study vs. formal structured education
  • How you can find cheap (or even free) knowledge online
  • Why open source and data sharing of work moves the industry forward exponentially (and ultimately helps builders)
  • What Augmented Reality (AR) is and how it differs from Virtual Reality (VR)
  • How Pokemon Go proved AR and got people active outside
  • How we may have already seen AR on TV
  • What Pepper's Ghost is and how it has been used to create illusions since the 1800s
  • An exploration of enabling hardware and software tech for AR
  • The involvement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in AR
  • Use cases explained like a smart mirror, AR contacts, and even heads up display (HUD) navigation for travel
