Cris Baker

Description:

Andy Bennetts and Cris Baker talk about the impact of teachers on students and the transition from teaching to administration. Cris shares her experience of starting as a mentor teacher and eventually becoming a full-time mentor staff developer before realizing that administration wasn't for her. They also discuss the traits of ideal colleagues, the power of friendships, and the role of leadership in education.
Cris also shares her perspective on education technology and the potential of AI in education. She emphasizes the importance of embracing technology and suggests a hybrid model of learning that combines virtual and in-person instruction. They also discuss the decline of close friendships since 1950 and how technology could be used to bridge the gap.
The two explore the role of leadership in education and the value of continuous learning. They reflect on the positive influence of mentors and the need to seek out opportunities for personal and professional development.
Finally, Andy and Cris discuss their vision for education that empowers future generations. They propose a student-centered approach where students can decide what they want to learn and be in charge of their education.
