From planning weddings to designing and building a house from scratch! As the former owner of an event planning business, Rissa Gunderson is used to digging into the details to bring every bride’s dream to life. But as she and her husband Jared found out, going owner-builder on an upscale cabin out of state, with their little boys in tow, would be no easy task.
They faced architectural, design, and construction challenges building a hybrid, contemporary-transitional style cabin in Southern Utah. Rissa’s instagram account, Our Mountain Retreat, allowed self-contracting families and followers in on all the ideas, advice, and home inspiration.
