President Joe Biden wrote a letter to congressional Democrats, saying he is committed to staying in the race and is “not going anywhere.” He also urged unity among Democrats, amid speculation about his viability as a presidential candidate.

Beryl weakened to a tropical storm after making landfall in South Texas as a Category 1 hurricane. The storm system killed two people, knocked out power for more than 2.7 million customers, and caused more than 1,300 flight cancellations.
