Friends & Allies – Andrew “Swede” Borene

He was captain of his college football team and later coached high school football, before he chose to join the USMC right ahead of 9/11, initially for “to see the world”. After fighting in the 2003-invasion of Iraq, Andrew “Swede” Borene made an impressive career in and out of governmental positions: He is a former senior officer in the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) where he served as Group Chief of an interagency team responsible for policy and planning of counterterrorism operations in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Africa, on behalf of The White House National Security Council. In addition to various military awards, Borenes civilian recognition includes the FBI Director’s Award and the ODNI Exceptional Achievement Award.

At the time of recording this episode, Andrew Borene is the London-based Executive Director for Flashpoint.io, an intelligence firm supporting national security and critical infrastructure teams in governments and multinational enterprises in more than 50 countries.
