Explosive device found at George Soros’ home: report

An explosive device was found on Monday at the New York home of billionaire George Soros.

The Wall Street Journal, citing local law enforcement, reported that police received a phone call from the Bedford residence in Westchester County about a suspicious package.

An employee that works at the home found the package and opened it, revealing what appeared to be an explosive device, according to a press release from the Bedford Police Department. The employee then placed the package in a wooded area until authorities arrived.

The department told Fox News that a suspicious package was found in a mailbox. Police referred Fox News to the F.B.I's New York office, which did not confirm the report.

Soros was not home at the time of the incident, according to the New York Times.

For those looking for work – an article on Motivation

Authored by ISDA Member Bill Peeler

I wanted to take a moment and point out something for the new and old alike that are looking for work in the security industry.

If you have properly prepared for your journey into this field you most likely have paid large sums of money for training, equipment, travel and all the best seller books available, this is your “investment” in addition to time. Now, if you are like me, we have a higher calling that we need to answer to, mine is called “Tina,” who will want to know what kind of return can be expected on your investment if any.

Now, you are set – go-bag is packed, telephone is charged and your ready to leap to answer that call that will come in any day… ok so the call hasn’t come “yet” and you still need to put food on the table and don’t forget that “higher calling” you will need to answer to, so you fill your time with “outside” work to pay the bills. You realize that, “hey maybe that phone won’t ring on it’s own.” I need to strengthen my network and get out and bout so I can make some contacts.

One Million Tweet Map – Big Data at Your Fingertips

The One Million Tweet Map maps the last geo-localized tweets delivered by the twitter stream API. The Map data is updated in real-time – YES – IN REAL-TIME – and it keeps “only” the last one million tweets on a global scale.

Each second, about fifty new tweets are added (and the fifty oldest tweets are removed to keep the same number of tweets on the map). Why not higher amounts? They are limited by the Twitter stream, but they could do much higher.

To put it matter-of-factly – this map deals with big data effortlessly.

This data is powered by Maptimize, a geographical clustering engine for online maps to display and analyze big geo-localized data.

Features include:

  • Clusters of tweets with numerical value
  • Heat Map where you can pinpoint tweet hotbeds
  • Keyword filter
  • Hashtag filter
  • Time filter – from 5 minutes to 6 hours
  • Trending filter in a geographical area
  • View tweets in real time in a geographical area
  • Map reset button

How it Works

Simply enter and set your filters in a particular geolocation and click on the clusters in that area to start diving into the tweets. You have the ability to zoom right down to a particular neighborhood or street. After you have found your tweets, click on the numbered circle. A window will pop up with those tweets. In the pop up you can see when the tweet was posted (time/date), who posted it, and the contents of the tweets including the ability to click on any links.

The One Million Tweet Map can and should be used by Corporate Security, Law Enforcement, Brand Protection Officers, Private Investigations, Social Media Intelligence and Open Source Intelligence.
