The World Health Organisation estimates 285 million are blind, with 80% treatable through eye examination. The interview aims to educate listeners on the importance of regular eye examination and the role of the optometrist in eyecare and vision loss prevention.

The South African Optometric Association (SAOA) Eyecare awareness month starts 21 September and ends 18 October 2019.
