Today's Scripture Reading is from Psalms 108:13, (NIV): "With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies."

On Sunday night, February 3, 2013, like millions of Americans, I watched Super Bowl 47 - a matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. Beyond the money spent on advertising, the festivities, the travel, the proud parents, family members, and friends, the heart-warming performance by the Sandy Hook students with Jennifer Hudson, the Alicia Keys rendition of the National Anthem, the coin toss, the much-hyped Beyonce half-time show, and the unexpected switching off of the lights, the Super Bowl ultimately boiled down to one team winning the Lombardi Trophy.

Both teams played well. They fought hard to follow their game plan, to be on point, to make appropriate plays at the right time. It was a football battle from the start and every member of both teams and both coaches had one goal in mind - Victory!
