Colleen Weaver is known for producing dozens of comedic and edgy performance art shows in the Denver Metro area over the last decade. Her followers might be expecting a silly and kitschy radio show or an improvised laugh-fest, but Weaver has something else in mind. “There has been a wild and in some cases unhealthy infatuation with celebrities in our society and I think in the last couple of years the general public has begun to notice that our idols can die, they can lie and they can also be despicable people. I’m hoping folks will be more hesitant about ‘worshiping’ television stars and start focusing that energy of admiration towards the talented and creative people they actually know.” -Weaver stated in a recent interview. False Idols will feature local artists and entertainers having casual and tangential conversations about life on and off-stage. “The entertainment industry is not all glamor and elegance, what goes on behind the scenes is often ugly, boring and sometimes disturbing. The so-called ‘idols’ of today are airbrushed and auto-tuned, their P.R. agents give them statements to read and cover up their indiscretions, fake situations are even created to fill gossip columns. If those are the ‘real’ idols of today then the people on my show are False Idols. We have uncensored, raw and vulnerable conversations about social issues, ordinary life and we even go to embarrassing or uncomfortable places.” False Idols is honest and funny. Each episode has its own unique, relatable energy. Some episodes will make you cry, some will make you laugh and all will make you curious about what really goes on when the spotlights are off.
