A leaked Trump campaign memo shows the two campaign managers, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, begging the campaign and its surrogates to tone down the violent rhetoric following the shooting on Saturday. Given the fact that Republicans have NOT toned down the rhetoric it doesn't appear that this memo is resonating with anyone, but it does give them cover to say that they asked nicely.
Also, Marjorie Taylor Greene attempted to stoke violence against Democrats over the weekend with multiple deranged and vile comments about the Democratic Party. Late Sunday, she said that we are in the battle between "good and evil," and then she specifically said that the Democrats are "evil." She wants someone to attack Democrats, there is little doubt about that. But people on social media have had enough, and they are now calling for her resignation.
And far right extremists have been calling for bloodshed and violence since the shooting at Donald Trump's Saturday rally. On message boards across the internet, Trump fans are calling one another to action, calling for violence and "war" against the Left in retaliation for a REPUBLICAN trying to kill their hero. These threats will eventually lead to unspeakable actions, as they often do, and law enforcement needs to step it up to prevent a major attack.
Finally, Donald Trump, Jr. seems to be laboring under the delusion that all of his father's horrible actions over the years - including the violence that he incited - now must be forgiven and completely forgotten following the shooting on Saturday. But the truth is that those events, like January 6th, are vital to understanding why Saturday happened in the first place. You can't spend 8 years sowing hatred and violence and not expect bad things to happen.
