Role Models Why would the Lord use developmental role models? Matthew 22 (37) Jesus said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. (38) This is the first and greatest commandment. (39) The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (NET) I Timothy 1 (5) Our teaching about this journey is intended to bring us to a single destination— a place where self-giving love reigns from a pure heart, a clean conscience, and a genuine faith. (Voice) Matthew 5 (16) In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven. (ERV) "Faithfully embracing the privilege and responsibility of role modeling brings healthy development." What would the Lord desire in developmental role models? I Corinthians 11 (1) Follow my example, just as I follow the example of Christ. Philippians 3 (17) Brothers and sisters, join together in following my example. Also, learn by watching those who are living the way we showed you. (ERV) I Peter 1 (6) So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. (7) These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (NLT) I John 2 (3) We can be sure that we know God if we obey his commands. (4) Anyone who says, “I know God,” but does not obey God’s commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. (5) But if someone obeys God’s teaching, then in that person God’s love has truly reached its goal.
