How did it all start? Genesis 1-2 1. Where do our deepest desires come from? Ecclesiastes 1 (8) The eye is never satisfied with seeing, nor is the ear ever content with hearing. (3) What benefit do people get from all the effort which they expend on earth? Psalm 38 (9) O Lord, you understand my heart’s desire; my groaning is not hidden from you. Job 7 (11) Therefore I will not keep silent; I will speak out in the anguish of my spirit, I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. (3:26) I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil. 2. Where do our deepest desires lead us to? Psalm 42 (5) Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. (1) As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. (2) My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 17 (15) As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness. Psalm 37 (4) Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (5) Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this Revelation 21 (1) Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. (3) And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. (4) ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (5) He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” "God’s big plan is the development of an eternal family of Christlike beings united in loving devotion to Christ and one another."
