Der wohl letzte Filmkritiker, dessen Name einem breiten, internationalen Publikum geläufig war, Roger Ebert, ist 2013 nach einem langen, qualvollen Kampf mit Krebs gestorben. 2001 war dieser ebenso nette wie brillante Kollege noch in Topform. Am Sundance Film Festival, das er bereits besucht hatte, als es noch nicht so hieß und bevor Robert Redford ins Spiel kam, gab er spontan seine Einschätzung zur Verfassung dieses wichtigsten US-Independentfilm-Festivals ab und zur Entwicklung des Kinos überhaupt, zu einem Zeitpunkt, als Digitalisierung noch mehr Gerücht als Realität war. Ach ja, und vielleicht hören Sie hier zum ersten Mal von Maxivision. Roger Ebert, probably the last film critic whose name was familiar to a wider, international audience, died in 2013 after a long, agonizing battle with cancer. In 2001, this kind and brilliant colleague was still in top form. At the Sundance Film Festival, which he had already attended when it was not yet called that and before Robert Redford came into play, he spontaneously gave his assessment of the state of this most important US independent film festival and the development of cinema in general, at a time when digitalisation was more rumour than reality. Oh yes, and this may be the first time you will have heard of Maxivision.
