Investing in the New Normal Series -- COVID-related shutdowns distorted the economy vs where it was before COVID and we are still trying to adapt to this world. The question now is; how do we, as investors trying to save for our future, navigate and invest in it? Let's learn from real people living and working in this "new normal" to help provide a unique perspective on what's going on. Early on in the COVID crisis gyms and fitness facilities were closing at higher rates than almost any other industry, including bars and restaurants. Thus came the boom of the at-home fitness industry, which some were saying would be the end of future in-person gyms. Fast forward two years, in-person gyms have re-opened, but at what rate? How have they changed? How is the industry accommodating for both at-home and in-person; and is it a zero-sum game? Mike Wojciechowski & Jamie Eischen, owners of Brew Fitness Shorewood come on the episode and help answer those questions. Mike and Jamie share their inspiring story of going out on their own and opening an in-person gym in the midst of a pandemic, and in the face of naysayers. Their gym aims to focus on community as much as they do fitness offering structured strength classes that include power lifting, high-intensity interval training, strength circuits, and yoga.
