Rebecca Stern, a divorce and family mediator, is discussing the concept and benefits of mediation for divorce cases. Mediation is a collaborative process that allows couples to control their own outcome and make informed decisions with the help of a neutral mediator who guides them in creating a lasting and equitable agreement.

You can mediate your divorce even if you have a high-conflict spouse, because a good mediator will know how to deal with the personality differences and potential sticking points in negotiations. Rebecca says that when there is an imbalance in power or knowledge in the marriage, it is important for the mediator to ensure that both spouses have access to information and are educated about their divorce negotiations.
