Newly appointed Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie has announced on social media platform X that he has terminated all sponsored trips for 'super fans'. According to Minister McKenzie, the funds previously allocated for these trips will now be redirected to support struggling athletes and artists in attending events and exhibitions. Notably, the two individuals known as the faces of the 'super-fans', Mama Joy Chauke and Botha Msila, attended the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France at a cost of approximately R1.3 million to South African taxpayers.
