BIO: Ricki Light, (Light Educational Advocacy Services LLC) has been an Educational Advocate and Strategist for the past twenty-four years. She holds master’s degrees in School Administration and Educational Counseling as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education with an emphasis on Special Education. Ricki’s additional twenty years of public-school experience in Toronto and Los Angeles as a Classroom Teacher, Inclusion Facilitator, Behavior Specialist, Transition Teacher, and Program Specialist, have provided her with a comprehensive understanding of children’s diverse strengths and needs.

Ricki’s child-centered approach enables her to work collaboratively with parents, therapists, medical professionals, and school personnel to develop individual educational support plans that consider her clients' unique set of learning, social communication, emotional, behavioral, sensory, attention, and executive functioning needs.

Ricki also consults with school teams providing practical suggestions, training, and strategies that can be implemented to assist children with diverse needs in school. She has presented at conferences, locally, nationally, and internationally on topics to support children with diverse needs by empowering parents and school personnel to work collaboratively in the development of unique individualized educational support plans.

Ricki’s years of experience in Special Education have provided the skills required to help successfully guide families through the often confusing and complex special education support process.
