Today, we jump right into our devotion,

"The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple."

Psalm 19:7b

You will well say, "Fred, a bold claim from a simple mind."

You know, patient family, that I claim no part of high intellect, in fact, "O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; Nor do I involve myself in great matters, Or in things too difficult for me," Psalm 131:1 is a near motto of my limitations. Yet…

Knowing and seriously considering the word of God does not make us an astronaut, Einstein, nor wise according to the flesh, but:

"The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace."

James 3:17-18

Oh, how we need that today.

Facing my limitations, I can confidently say that the universe is not here by "mysterious forces, cosmic lightening, and luck," as I heard a brilliant guy once assert, but "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1

"For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God." Hebrews 3:4

Neither does it take a thousand postgraduate degrees to apprehend that 99 percent of our troubles stem from the fact that we are "untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful." Yet, those who call us small and despised, are bent on being those who cannot be trusted, loving or merciful.
