The best way to travel from Vienna to Salzburg is without a doubt the train. Trains from Vienna to Salzburg or from Salzburg to Vienna run every half an hour and are affordable. There are no buses from Vienna to Salzburg even if Flixbus sells tickets. The Flixbus tickets are usually sold in cooperation with Westbahn, so you would end up taking a train anyway.
