SO… what is #FtheHustle anyways?

Well, before we get into what #FtheHustle is, we need to talk a little bit about the word hustle. Because we’re both anti-hustle and as we share this message, we realize a lot of you are tired of being told to hustle too.

hustle

Jon started today’s episode with a question:

“How much can you really grind?”

Before we got into what we really mean with #FtheHustle, I had to share the definition of the word hustle, which, if you read them, aren’t necessarily positive.

I don’t know when working non-stop became synonymous with success.

They’re not mutually exclusive.

You can fill your time with tons of activity and be super busy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re moving in the right direction with your business.

What about those hustlers, like Gary V.?

Gary Vaynerchuck works in a way that works for Gary Vaynerchuck.

We’re not all wired to hustle and grind and there comes a point where it feels like we’re never doing enough. If you’re not grounded in your own life it’s easy to wonder what you’re doing wrong because you feel like you just can’t do more than you’re doing.

Planning & Commitment

I shared a story in this episode about an experience I had recently with a friend.

We’ve been keeping each other accountable and decided to spend the day doing some planning. We’ve talked about different systems and journals we’ve both used in the past and had decided we wanted to commit to journaling for 90 days (based on books and programs we’ve both read. The idea behind this is that it’s easier to plan out and accomplish things in 90 days than it is to do a 12 month plan).

When we got together she had brought one person’s system (90 day system) and had printed the PDF and had it spiral bound.

All I can say is OH. MY. GOD.

As soon as I saw this ‘system’ I knew I wanted no part of it.

The amount of work involved to use this system, that’s supposed to make my life easier made my head spin.

And I could tell my friend felt the same way.

I just looked at her and said “You need less in your life, not more.”

Don’t get caught up in “work debt” (work you’ve been paid for but gets strung out so long you feel like you’re working for free).

Regrets, adventures and what matters to you…

You’ve heard the message before and there’s a reason you hear it so often.

“No one ever wished they’d spent more time at work”

YOU get to decide what your life looks like to you.

You don’t have to miss out on spending time with the people in your life in order to grow your business.

Listen to yourself.

Figure out what works for YOU.

There’s SO much goodness in this episode…

You’re going to have to listen to the show to get the rest of it.
