Remember the feeling of invincibility we wore like a graduation gown in our high school days? Laura Stowater does, and she's here to share the humbling lessons from her transition to college and beyond. With a sparkling wit and depth of insight that's well beyond her years, Laura joins me in a discussion that meanders from the pressures of young adulthood to the sweet victories found in incremental progress. We talk about the traps of perfectionism, the power of breaking down mammoth dreams into manageable milestones, and how Laura's ready to stir things up at General Mills as a chemical engineer with business acumen.
Laura is in her final year of college concurrently pursuing an undergrad in Chemical Engineering and MBA. After graduation, she will be a Manufacturing and Engineering Associate with General Mills. She is also a pilates and barre instructor, novice runner, baker, and reader. She has a passion for travel and adventure, and her most recent adventure includes hiking the Grand Canyon rim to river.
Topics covered:

  • Laura's background, including her education and career aspirations.
  • Dealing with pressure and perfectionism.
  • Recognizing the value of failure and the learning process.
  • Breaking down big goals into smaller, manageable steps.
  • Importance of soft skills development and interpersonal relationships.
  • Finding value in work and enjoying the journey.
