Then, in verse 20, Scripture states that Jesus “lifted up His eyes on His disciples…” Were there others around, probably, but the preaching of Jesus seems to narrow its focus to His close followers in verse 20. Jesus encourages them, and us today, to follow in His Footsteps.

The new thing God did on earth was to give His One and Only Son to be the propitiation for our sins (1 John 2:2).
