Neste primeiro episódio, partimos das contribuições de Darwin e Wallace, chegando à chamada Síntese Moderna que agrega principalmente conceitos de genética ao mecanismo, descoberto por Darwin, da seleção natural. Com isso se encerra o chamado eclipse do darwinismo, período de fortes críticas à teoria, dando lugar ao consenso científico, expresso perfeitamente por Dobzhansky, de que nada faz sentido na biologia se não for à luz da evolução.
