What can charities do to better attract younger philanthropists to their cause? Many believe this is now an especially important challenge and opportunity. They cite research suggesting that in the next ten years, millennials and generations X and Z are likely to be in a position to make an especially valuable contribution to causes they care about. In Part 2 of Rob’s recent interview with Victoria Roe, she shares more lessons she’s learned in managing UNICEF UK’s approach. The ‘Next Gen’ concept they use is a more proactive approach to the needs and interests of younger supporters than many charities currently take. In the interview they explore a range of insights, including the value of the creating an identity or ‘home’ for younger supporters; effective stewardship and involvement; and ideas for balancing short-term pressures with the value of these relationships in the medium and long-term.
