Did you know that a profound shift in awareness occurs for many astronauts when they see the earth from space? This phenomenon is called The Overview Effect and it offers comparable results to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and nature-based experiences in promoting transcendence and well-being.
Dr. Annahita Nezami is developing a virtual reality (VR) experience that seeks to bring the cognitive shift experienced by astronauts to a wider audience via positive technologies.
I talk to Annahita about her doctoral research, in which she interviewed 7 NASA astronauts, and about her current work with developing a virtual reality experience of The Overview Effect.
