Rose Monday, former Olympic coach, and Alanah Yukich, Paris 2024 Olympian, join Game On! to talk about their paths to the biggest stage in sports. Hear Alanah’s globetrotting trip to Olympic qualification that took her across three continents in just two weeks and Rose’s own unique path to the Olympic stage.

Rose Monday Bio

Rose Monday is a former Olympic women’s track and field head coach and is responsible for the revitalization of the University of Texas-San Antonio distance program. She was the head coach of Team USA women’s track and field at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, and was an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. Monday was the head distance coach of UTSA from 2001 to 2007. During that time she was named Chair of Development for Distance Runners by USATF and had multiple international coaching appointments including the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships. An accomplished athlete herself, Monday was a four-time national champion at California State University-Northridge, including an indoor national championship in the 800-meter in 1985. She qualified for the Olympic Trials three times, in 1984, 1988 and 1992. In 2001, she won a gold medal in the 800-meter at the World Masters Championship. Monday is considered one of the top minds in middle distance and distance running.

Alanah Yukich Bio

Alanah Yukich is a middle distance runner from Australia who spent her collegiate years at the University of Texas-San Antonio. She will be heading to the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 400-meter hurdles for Australia. As a Roadrunner she earned C-USA All-Conference recognition nine times, including conference championships in the 400-meter hurdles. As an amateur in Australia she won two junior national titles and competed at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships. Yukich ranks fifth in Australian history for the 400-meter hurdles with her personal best of 55.15.
