Listen to an interview conducted by Moze Jacobs of Gary, as he brings us on a musical voyage covering the long legacy of the late, great Miles Davis.

Miles would have been 90 this year, and Gary traces his tentative early beginnings, through his wild experimentation and dipping into modern pop music.

1. Charlie Parker Rebeboppers – Now’s the Time. Featuring as per every song on this setlist, Miles Davis on trumpet, Charlie Parker on alto sax, Dizzy Gillespie on piano(!), Curley Russell on bass, Max Roach on drums. 1945.

2. Miles Davis – Budo. From the album The Birth of the Cool. Featuring: Kai Windingon trombone, Junior Collins on French horn, Bill Barber on tuba, Lee Konitz on alto sax, Gerry Mulligan on baritone sax, Al Haig on piano, Joe Shulman on bass and Max Roach on drums. 1949.

3. Miles Davis – It Never Entered My Mind. From the album Working with the Miles Davis Quintet. Featuring Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on Bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums. 1957.

4. Miles Davis – My Ship. From Miles Ahead (with Gil Evans) Miles playing Flugel horn, 19 piece orchestra, featuring Lee Konitz on alto saxophone, Paul Chambers on bass, Art Taylor on drums. 1957
