Bikes are wonderful, but there are three main problems with bicycles as transportation in America:
First, our country is large, unlike the Netherlands or even Belgium, which are both small and relatively flat.
Second, there are two things you positively can’t do on a bicycle — stay warm & stay dry.
It’s just like our modern e-bikes, novice riders are going places they shouldn’t go without a “backup” plan.
We must remember it’s like a wag once remarked — “the country tilted up, and all the loose nuts fell to one end…”
