In this episode, Pastor Bob and Pastor Phil are joined by Julie Maduforo, RN, MA, MCFC. Julie is a Professional Counselor at Katallasso Family Health Center, and she joins us to talk about ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts). Because of the way our brains work, negative thoughts can be stored up and develop into patterns of negative thinking outside of our conscious awareness.
ANTs are thoughts, not facts, so we are able to change them. In our discussion, we talk about how our brains work and where these automatic negative thoughts come from. We also discuss how to begin to recognize them, challenge them, and correct them according to what is true.
ABOUT THIS SERIES:
Depending on who you talk to, mental health and the Bible can sometimes appear as enemies. We know that God intends for us to take care of our bodies, and that includes our brain health. In this series, we will discuss the topic of mental health as it relates to the truth that we find in scripture. We will seek to understand some of the mental health issues that impact us and how we might use the resources available to take steps toward healing.
