This week we reflect of seperation anxiety in young adults and link it to attachment and abandonment issues. It is common for one to expirience separation anxiety when detaching from familiar spaces and people, the best example of seperation anxiety is that of a toddler throwing tantrums when their parents leave them with other people or when they lose their favorite toy. There are often rapid changes in the lives of especially young adults; transition from academia to corporate, kissing many frogs to find your life partner and many other new beginnings that can have one display the emotions of their inner child - feeling lost and abandoned. On this episode we share our personal experiences with seperation anxiety, how it affected our mental health and wellness as well as how we cope(d) with the triggers. Seperation anxiety is a gateway to attachment and abandonment disorders because life-changing situations make us realize that we were unconsciously deeply attached to something/ someone - detaching make one feel abandoned (both processes hurt) and may make one dread establishing meaningful relationships with others to avoid feelings of separation anxiety.
