Women in Switzerland gained the right to vote in federal elections after a referendum in February 1971. Even though the fight for women’s suffrage in Switzerland started in 1863 (canton Zürich), women had to fight for more than 100 years to get it. And in some cantons it took a bit longer to get there.. last canton to grant women suffrage was Appenzell Innerrhoden (AI) and this only under an order of a Swiss Federal Tribunal. Nevertheless, February 1971 is considered as an official date, which means that this February we are celebrating 50 years of women's suffrage (Frauenstimmrecht). So in tonight show I've decided to focus on Swiss🇨🇭female artists. I've put together the playlist that includes artists that I know very well, that I've interviewed in the last few years and artists that I discovered recently. The selection was not easy, but I tried to keep it diverse and include a variety of genres.
