Shetty, despite growing up in the slums of Mumbai, rose through executive ranks in the U.S. to lead technological innovation at both JP Morgan Chase and New York Life. Shetty’s deep understanding of finance and insurance, coupled with his empathetic heart, motivate him to give back to society daily by democratizing benefits in the U.S.

We kick off by asking Yogesh to share his journey and what has led him to where he is today:

  • Raised single handedly by his mother
  • Inspired to do something different at an early age
  • Hard work, passion, focus and patience
  • A+ student - good at academics
  • The first digital transformation
  • Financial technology
  • Breakthrough moment
  • Head of Engineering
  • Wrote a book
  • Vice President
  • Managing Director
  • Insurance is at the beginning of digital transformation, like fintech

We ask Yogesh, what gap did he see, what made him choose insurance?

  • Noble asset
  • Financial asset triggers when a human is at the very lowest state of their emotions
  • Very emotionally attached
  • Your margin is an opportunity for innovation
  • Funeral expenses

We ask Yogesh to tell us about his belief system of daily habits and how he helps others?

  • Big thanks to his Mother, he is who he is because of her sacrifice
  • Success means - someone helped you
  • Intelligence is equally distributed but opportunities are not
  • When we say luck, its attributed to people
  • Short life span - if we all pushed each other up, the world would be far more superior
  • He has a strong team - they make him invincible

Next we ask Yogesh, what are his thoughts on opportunities being disguised in plain site?

  • What is your purpose in life - then carve out a plan
  • What is your appetite for risk?
  • Look out for a bigger opportunity
  • The purpose of every entrepreneur is to make this world a better place
  • Impact the world

We then ask Yogesh what he thinks it is in human beings that makes them entrepreneurs?

  • Wiring is a continuous process
  • Humans are trained for change - we are not trained to stay the same forever
  • Purpose and experience

Then we ask Yogesh what he looks for when he is hiring?

  • Good assessment of the organization's strength and weaknesses
  • Find people that are 10x’s better than him
  • The success of the company is a reflection of people and not the CEO
  • When you have surplus around you, you cannot innovate
  • EPIC Framework - energy, passion, information, compassion
  • 50% of your life goes to work, 40% to sleep and 10% to spending time with loved ones

Lastly, we ask Yogesh, does he have a time hack or a gadget that he cannot live without?
