YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN --Jesus

  • Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jew. Pharisee comes to Jesus at night.

  • He told Jesus he knew he was sent from God because no one else could perform the signs he did unless God was with him

  • Jesus responded by telling him unless you are born again you will never enter the Kingdom of God

Two types of Birth

Physical/Spiritual

One comes from the flesh. Your mother’s body

One comes from the Spirit. From the Holy Spirit

The wind blows and you hear, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with the Spirit. We don’t know who he will give his spirit to next because the heart work is inside. We only see the evidence of the fruit on the outside

I’m telling you what I know
  • Jesus said he was telling what he knew, what he has seen, yet you still won't believe and accept my testimony

  • He had the testimony out of Jesus' mouth. And still wouldn't believe

  • I have told you about earthly things you don't believe so how can you believe things about heaven?

  • No one has ascended into heaven except the one who has descended from heaven—the son of man

  • Just as man lifted up the snake in the wilderness. Jesus tells him I will be lifted up so that everyone who believes in me will have eternal life.

God so loved the world
  • The most famous verse–for God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son

  • So that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life

  • Jesus was not sent to condemn but to save the world

The Trial of this life
  • Believers are not condemned

  • Unbelievers are already condemned because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God

  • This is the judgment

Light came into the world

People loved the darkness rather than the light they wanted to sin her their darkness

Because their deeds were evil

Those who do evil hate the light and avoid it

Coming into the light would expose the darkness

Those who live in the truth

Come to the light

So that his works may be accomplished by God and everyone see what God has done in their life.

John testifies about Jesus again

  • Jesus and disciples were baptizing in Judea

  • John was baptized as well

  • Dispute broke out because everyone was going to Jesus' baptisms

  • John responds No one can receive anything unless its from heaven

  • John reminds him my work was to prepare so that everyone would go to him

  • He said his joy was complete and that Jesus must become greater and he become less

  • He said Jesus was from above and is above all and he was from earthly and spoke on earthly terms

  • He told them just what Jesus told NIcodemus Jesus had testified to what he seen and heard and yet they still didnt accept his testimony

  • The one who accepts his testimony has affirmed that God is true

  • The one God sent speaks God’s words

  • God gives him his Spirit without measure

  • God loves Jesus and has given him all things into his hand

  • The one who believes in Jesus has eternal life a

  • The one who rejects Jesus will not see life(heaven) and the wrath(anger and punishment) of God remains on him.

  • What does it mean to reject Jesus?
  • not to allow one's self to be persuaded

    • to refuse or withhold belief

    • to refuse belief and obedience

  • not to comply with

So have you trusted in Jesus as your Lord and Surrender your life to Him?

Are you like Nicodemus you know about his teaching and want to know more but afraid to do it in the day? Jesus is available day or night. Run to Him!
