Claire attended a staff legislative briefing at the Texas State Capitol. She was invited by a friend of the pod, Patti Everitt. If you haven’t listened to our episode that features Patti Everitt educating us about charter schools in Texas, we highly recommend you go back and listen. We’ve learned that there’s a lot of misinformation about charter schools and Patti Everitt is on the front lines of debunking those false narratives. At the briefing, Claire shared her experience of fighting a charter amendment expansion in her own neighborhood. She worked with Patti and fellow community members who fought back against the charter expansion and won! Stay tuned as we continue to stay informed especially as Governor Greg Abbott has named school choice as a top legislative priority this 88th Texas Legislative Session.
