The author of Hebrews mentions a list of names of heroes of faith who achieved great victories in the Lord’s service. Yet, these heroes were not strong in themselves. In fact, they were often weak, vacillating and uncertain. They struggled with doubt and fell into sin more than once. Yet the author mentions them to give us encouragement and strength. They were ordinary people just like us (James 5:17). None of them was weaker and more uncertain than Gideon. Yet God accomplished great things through him. Because God used Gideon, we know he will use us as well. (Text: Judges 7:19-23)
