He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.6 Surely your goodness and love will follow meal the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever Many people don't get the Psalms and think that the Psalms are boring. There are 150 Psalms in the book of Psalms. Historically, the book of Psalms served as the prayer book and songbook of God’s people. For both ancient Jews and early Christians, the Psalms provided words for every emotion and experience. Psalms capture a praying person’s highest thoughts and deepest feelings. The book of Psalms subtly instructs us that we don’t need to hide any emotions form God. Psalms are prayers most of them would have been set to music. Most Psalms are communal Psalms they would be sung on the way to worship and some Psalms are personal.
