This week on the show Maine Emil and Zak recap how 50/50 matches were a force to be reckoned with this weekend with recaps of BJJ Stars 3, Fight to Win 148, and a preview of Who's Number One Gordon Ryan Vs Ronaldo Junior.
In the news section we talk about Marcus Almeida "Buchecha" has signed with Ali and announced his transition to MMA, we discuss the UFC in Wedrum vs Gus, Grace Gundrum receiving her black belt, and Felipe Andrew moving teams.
In the recap section of the show we kick it off with BJJ Stars 3 Headlined by Kaynan Duarte vs Joao Gabriel Rocha, that kicked the shows 50/50 discussion off including a discussion of the repeated knee injuries of Rocha as of recent. We follow the first match with the co-main Patrick Gaudio vs Erberth Santos a match that seemed to have a more reserved Erberth that at one point attempted to showcase his signature 50/50 kneebar. We round out the main card discussion with Lucas "Hulk" Barbosa vs Leandro in a match decided by the takedown from Hulk off the bat, we talk passing attempts and the modulation of passing throughout the match.
In our recap of Fight to Win 148 we talk about the main and co-main event of the card. Victor Hugo defeating Max Gimenes to keep his Super Heavy Weight Black Belt Title we discuss potential matchups for Victor and a possible matchup with Kaynan. In the Co-Main we talk about the kneebar work of Keenan Cornelius vs Matheus Luna in Keenans Fight to Win Debut. We talk about the difference of game that Keenan had to implement in this match and how knowledgeable of the rules Keenan has historically beeb throughout his career. We also discuss a few of the other matches on the card.
In the preview section of the show we talk about Who's Number One Headlined by Gordon Ryan Vs Ronaldo Junior we talk about what game Gordon may choose to implement, and possible pathways to victory for Ronaldo Junior. We talk about Gordon potentially showcasing his DVD techniques in this match as a selling point. In the Co-Main we discuss the barnburner matchup of Gary Tonon Vs Dante Leon, two grapplers who have very similar styles, we talk about their sub games, leglock games, and back take games, and are split in who we think will take this matchup. In the third from the top matchup we discuss Craig Jones Vs Lucas Barbosa "Hulk" we think about what Craig's pathway to victory is and how at some point in the match he will be able to enter into a leg lock exchange scoring him points.
In the outro of the show we discuss MRI and various BJJ and combat sports injuries that the hosts have had over the years.
