This week on the show, Maine and Miranda talk about the Craig Jones invitational, and all the information that we know about the event so far. We discuss every athlete we are aware of who is now signed to the event. We talk about the pay structure, the organizations, goals and aims, as well as speculate about many aspects regarding the promotion and it's finances. We also recap AIGA Team Kasai finals matches, CJJ Faber Vs Glover, Preview EBI 21 the Absolutes, and IBJJF Worlds this coming week.
In the news section, we talk about William and Andrew Tackett dropping out of ADCC for CJI, as well as Champion Ffion Davies dropping out for a super fight. We discuss Andy, Varela, and Eldar Cruz replacing these athletes at ADCC, and speculate, if additional B team members will make the jump over to the Craig Jones invitational. (After recording Nicky Ryan confirmed our thoughts by announcing his slot in CJI)
In the recap section of the show, we talk about the stunning finals run through that team Kasai had in the AIGA finals where every team members submitted their opposition in the finals matches. We talk about some of the phenomenal transitions from Renato Canuto and Fabricio Andrey, we also discuss Andrew Tackets, phenomenal wrestling, and the X factor of what rule set CJI will use and if this will be a factor.
We break down -65kg: Dorian Olivares vs Jhonatha Frazão with a RNC submission victory for Dorian.
Roberto Jimenez vs Elionai Braz with Roberto winning via a short choke from back
Fabricio Andrey vs David Mateus with Fabricio winning with an armbar
Junny Ocasio vs Guilherme Oliveira with Junny winning by second round heel hook variation.
Pedro Marinho vs Gabriel Brod with Pedro winning with a quick belly down straight ankle lock.
Renato Canuto vs Nikolas Ramos with Renato winning with a transition from the back triangle to the the tarikoplata
Andrew Tackett vs Matheus Ferreira with Tackett winning via RNC.
In the recap of Uriah Faber vs Jeff Glover we discussed the initial donkey guard work from Jeff and some great early submission attempts, and then the late surge in the match from Uriah, where he was able to land heavy strikes, and submit Jeff with a rear naked choke from the crucifix after a transition.
In the Preview section of the shall we discuss the upcoming Karate Combat Pit Submission 5, with Ethan Crelinsten vs. Jordan "The Monkey King" Leavitt, Helena Crevar vs. Mariya Agapova, and an openweight bout between AJ Agazarm v. Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa.
We Preview the names announced for the Eddie Bravo Invitation 10th anniversary show and talk about some of the front runners announced plus we also talked a bit about the worlds bracket for IBJJF where we would be breaking down the finals next week.
In the outro we discuss the Grappling Rewind team going on vacation.
