Jesus the Christ, the second Person of the Godhead was prophesied to come and be born as a man - hundreds and hundreds of years before His actual physical birth. In Psalms 22: 16 - 18 (NLT) we find one of these very distinct prophecies. "My enemies surround me like a pack of dogs; an evil gang closes in on me. They have pierced my hands and feet. I can count all my bones. My enemies stare at me and gloat. They divide my garments among themselves and throw dice for my clothing." This verse clearly foreshadows the crucifixion of Jesus in the New Testament. He would be pierced and nailed to a tree to pay for the sins of all mankind. Anyone who will receive His payment for their sins will be saved and redeemed for all eternity.
