How to Have a Great Meeting - In this video I’ll teach you some effective meeting strategies for your next group meeting.
1. Agenda
- send out in advance
- review at the beginning of the meeting
- create a meeting template for meetings that happen regularly
2. Create a safe environment
- be positive
- remind people that what happens in the meeting stays in the meeting.
- MODEL IT
3. Assign/Know Your Roles
- everyone should know what their roles are prior to meeting.
- sometimes they are the same, sometimes they change.
- timekeeper, notetaker, reminder when people get off-task, etc.
4. Take notes
- two ways that notes should be taken.
- have a notetaker, who records “meeting minutes” in as much detail as possible and then send them out at the end of the meeting. (Include supervisors if needed)
- everyone should take their own notes, in their own words, doesn’t have to be long.
5. End with “Action Steps”
- The meeting should conclude on schedule.
- Review the meeting agenda to confirm that you’ve covered everything you set out to cover.
- identify what each member’s ACTION STEPS will be
- schedule the next meeting.
