On this episode of Gritty Bowmen I travel to Boise Idaho and visit with friend, Russ Meyer and his wife Carole. This podcast is about relationships--it’s about life AND hunting. It’s about balance. The balance between the drive to be outdoors, often away from the ones we love most, and time at home with family. Many couples struggle when one person in the family has a passion for hunting that the other doesn’t understand. And it goes both ways. Sometimes the passionate hunter alienates their loved ones in the pursuit and fulfillment of their own personal interest to be in the mountains, in the deserts, or on the water. Many relationships have crashed and burned in the unreconcilable void between the hunter and those he or she leaves at home. How does a couple reconcile their differences? Why do these differences strengthen some relationships while destroying others.

In this podcast, we talk to a couple who seems to have figured out how to reconcile their differences. We are going to find out what works for them. You will hear about the struggles they’ve had as a couple and how they’ve overcome them.

The more I get to know a person, the more I realize how much we’re alike as human beings. We all have fears and doubts. We all struggle--life isn’t always easy. But life is awesome. The journey is awesome. And in this podcast we get to know Russ and Carole on a more intimate level. I want to thank them for sharing their lives so openly. I tend to talk too much in this podcast. For those of you who don’t know Russ, let me tell you something about him--he’s a man of few words. Let’s just say he’s not going to dominate the conversation. That said, my goal is to understand him--to get to know him; to find out what he thinks and why he does the things he does. As a result, I find myself talking quite a bit about my own experiences in this podcast. And as Carole gives me insight into their lives--I cannot help but share my own thoughts on the subjects discussed. So please indulge my excessive input. And I hope, in some small way, that this podcast helps you strengthen the relationships in your own life.
