Much like the rest of American society, the early sixties in baseball were just like the late 50s. The Yankees were winning, Mickey Mantle was playing well, and the world was turning as it should. That was until 1965, in which America and the baseball world were turned upside down. The wheels completely fell off the Yankee bus and the rest of Major League Baseball took over. For us young Baby Boomers baseball was an escape from a troubling world filled with war, civil rights movement and nuclear annihilation.
