Our guest today is Stephen Shives. Steve is a first-time political candidate, running for Florida House District 27 in 2024. He has been an entrepreneur since high school, starting his own business in 1982 at the age of 16. In 2012, he started Runaway Campers, a small camping trailer manufacturing company in his backyard, that has since grown into a nationwide company, with thousands of units on the road. And Steve wants to bring that kind of business sense to the FL House District 27. 1) What experiences did you have growing up that you believe shaped you into who you are today? 2) How did you manage starting a business for yourself so young; and how has that played out over the years? 3) How has gun ownership and the 2A community become an important part of your life? 4) You say you never wanted to have anything to do with politics; what happened that led you to get involved?
