STORY 1: Father of alleged Apalachee High School shooter arrested

Colin Gray, the father of Colt Gray, the 14-year-old accused of a deadly school shooting at Apalachee High School, faces multiple charges including involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children for allegedly allowing his son to possess a weapon. Colt Gray is charged with felony murder for the shooting that killed four people, including two students and two teachers, and injured nine others. The shooting has deeply affected the Winder community, leading to vigils and calls for support. Investigations are ongoing, with federal and state officials involved. The tragedy has prompted a broader conversation about gun violence and school safety.

STORY 2: Apalachee High School Staff Used Crisis Badge System Also Used in Gwinnett Schools

The Centegix CrisisAlert badge system, recently implemented in Barrow County Schools, was put to the test during the deadly shooting at Apalachee High School. The system, which Gwinnett County Public Schools began using last year, allows staff to alert administrators and law enforcement to emergencies by pressing a button on their badges. In Barrow County, the system helped quickly trigger a lockdown and alert responders, potentially limiting the tragedy. The shooting, which resulted in four deaths and nine injuries, highlighted the system's effectiveness in enhancing school safety and response.

STORY 3: Paw Patrol, Pentatonix Coming To Gas South Arena

The PAW Patrol is returning with a new live stage show, “PAW Patrol Live! A Mighty Adventure,” at Gas South Arena in Duluth on November 16 and 17. Tickets, starting at $25, go on sale September 13 at www.pawpatrollive.com. This show, part of the popular PAW Patrol franchise, features Chase, Marshall, and Skye dealing with a supervillain's scheme. VIP tickets for a meet-and-greet experience are available for $110. Additionally, Pentatonix will perform their holiday tour at the arena on December 4. For more details, visit www.gassouthdistrict.com.

STORY 4: Why frontline workers are quitting their jobs

A recent poll of 1,000 U.S. frontline workers revealed that 83% feel overwhelmed by the amount of information they need to do their jobs, with 20% considering quitting due to this stress. Key stressors include lacking certain skills (43%) and difficulty staying updated on job requirements (75%). While 69% see their role as a long-term career opportunity and 70% would stay with their employer if offered a permanent position, many struggle with information overload. Effective training resources—whether in-person, online, or paper—are crucial for reducing mistakes and enhancing job satisfaction.

STORY 5: Boy shot in the head raising money for hospital that saved his life

Harry Studley, who survived a near-fatal head injury from a pellet gun at 18 months old, is set to walk a 5K to raise funds for the hospital that saved him. Now nine, Harry faces ongoing challenges including epilepsy, partial blindness, and cognitive issues. He and his father, Ed, will participate in the Grand Walk for the Grand Appeal on September 15, aiming to support Bristol Royal Hospital for Children's Bluebell Ward, where Harry received critical care. The family has created a fundraising page to support the hospital and its staff.

Break 3: INGLES 10

STORY 6: Seckinger Postpones Homecoming Game After Apalachee Shooting

Seckinger High School has indefinitely postponed its Homecoming football game and pep rally in response to the deadly shooting at Apalachee High School. The Jaguars were set to face Winder-Barrow High School today. The school will still hold its Homecoming Dance, where the Senior Homecoming King and Queen will be announced. Principal Jimmy Fisher communicated that the decision is made out of respect for the tragedy and to support the affected community.
