Thanks for listening to another edition of the Handyman Pros Radio Show. Our Goal: To Help you save time, money, and aggravation on your home maintenance and repair.

I was in a big box store looking to replace my well worn zip strip drain cleaning tool, I came upon a new tool that will replace my zip tool. Not a day later, John was doing the same thing and I turned him onto the same tool (we will show it in a bit). We decided to do a show on maintaining functionality as a handyman with fewer tools is possible by maximizing the utility of the tools you have, improving your skills, and being resourceful.

Here are some tips:

Master Basic Skills: Develop your skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and other essential trades. Being proficient in basic skills allows you to tackle a variety of tasks with minimal tools.

Plan and Prioritize: Before starting a project, plan it thoroughly. Identify the tools you'll need and organize your work area. This helps avoid unnecessary trips back and forth for tools.

Improvisation: Learn to improvise with the tools you have. For example, if you don't have a specific tool for a job, try to adapt a tool you do have or create a makeshift solution.

Continue Learning: Stay updated on new techniques and tools in your field. Learning innovative methods can help you accomplish tasks more efficiently with fewer tools.

Specific Tools:

Miter saw

Circular Saw

Versatile tools: allows you to improvise

Cordless Drill, drilling, driving, cleaning (brushes), grinding, polishing, etc.

Oscillating tool

4” Grinder

Replacement tools

Replacement of bigger tools: Snake

Caulk gun as a clamp

Multipurpose materials: caulk, screws, nails, PVC trim strips

Remember that skill and knowledge are just as important as the number of tools you have. With resourcefulness and creativity, you can provide quality handyman services even with a limited tool collection.
